NFL DRAFT COMING TO PITTSBURGH
On April 23-25, Pittsburgh will host the National Football League Draft. This will bring thousands of people who do not know how to navigate bridges and tunnels to our City. We are expecting delays in transportation so as we get closer, we may need small modifications to our school days during this event. More information coming in a few weeks.

CROSS COUNTRY & KIDS OF STEEL RUN
The KAS Cross Country Club resumes this week (tomorrow) and will continue Tuesdays through April. Every KAS student is invited to attend the workouts. Our ultimate goal is for students to successfully prepare and participate in the Pittsburgh Kids Marathon in May. To register for the 2026 Pittsburgh Kids Marathon, please visit the Dicks Sporting Goods Marathon website. If you register by April 8, we have been told that bibs will be delivered to KAS by April 24th. After that, parents will need to pick up their bibs at the expo the Friday before the run.
FYI: To ensure all students are safe and reunite with family members after the Kids Marathon, the race has a matching bib system. Each child will get their own bib as well as a parent bib, so that at the end of the finish line chute parents can show their matching bib to retrieve their child.

FIRST-EVER KAS GRADES 4-8 LOCK-IN
Grades 4-8 experienced their first school Lock-In this past Friday night. Students were invited to spend the night at the school to play games, listen to music, watch a movie, eat pizza, laugh, and spend time with friends. In the morning teachers made breakfast for the students before sending our tired kangaroos home. Thanks so much to the teachers who dedicated time that was 'above and beyond the call of duty' in honor of creating a memorable event for our children.

REMEMBER YOUR WATER BOTTLES
KAS keeps plenty of cups in the cafe for students to use when thirsty. Nevertheless, we are asking all students to bring a water bottle to school to use so water is perpetually accessible. Especially in the middle school, we are urging all students to use water bottles to reduce cup washing.

DAY OF MAKING UPDATE
Our Day of Making (April 23) is starting to gel and we again want to invite you to this event. We plan to have 6 stations, led by some of our middle schoolers and teachers. Parents may join their child as we rotate through these stations and all can enjoy a range of different types of MAKING already seen across the KAS campus. Our stations (may) include: Origami; Cooking; Balloon Power Vehicle Making; Paper Plane Creation; Picture Frame Art; and Cardboard Free Design. The entire event will be in the morning starting around 9AM: parents are invited to visit the cafe beforehand while students are taking attendance for a coffee or tea.

25-26 YEARBOOK UPDATE
Thanks to Ms. Max and Mr. Bob for leading the development of the KAS annual yearbook. Middle school students have been setting up the formatting and populating the pages.
*You will be receiving (or have received) an email directly from our middle schoolers asking if you are interested in purchasing a page (or part of one) for your business logo, or personal message. These purchased pages offset the cost of publication for all families. Thanks also to our middle school students who have led this initiative.
